5 Cases of Presumptive Systemic Lupus Erythematosus diagnosed as Hematologic Diseases

Abstract
|
|
|
5 cases of tentative diagnosis of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) as manifested
hematologic diseases are presented and the related literatures are briefly reviewed. All
these cases revealed one or more hematological abnormalities such as anemia, leukopenia
or thrombocytopenia. They showed positive immunofluorescent antinuclear antibody
(ANA) test which suggested SLE but not sufficed the 1982 revised criteria for the
disease. Symptomatic and hematological improvement with steroid therapy was noted
except one.
